I'm trying to rip a DVD on Mac OS X and drag its contents into iMovie HD. So far converting it to .voburl==http://=http:///url and .mp4url==http://=http:///url have not worked (I have used two different programs as well).
Any ideas? Any way to convert to .movurl==http://=http:///url either directly from the DVD or from the already ripped clips?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What's the problem? Are you able to decrypt the dvd onto your hard drive? Is it imovie that's not accepting your files?
Also, are you trying to upconvert a DVD to HD?

Are you trying to convert your dvd vob files so they are usable in imovie? Have you already ripped it successfully to your hard drive? If you're having trouble ripping to your hard drive than i can help you AIM. if you need to convert vob files i'm not sure, maybe the pgrm FFMPEGX, however i'm not sure if it does vob files

I've already ripped them to my HD, it's just iMovie that isn't accepting the clips.
I'll check out FFMPEGX.

Seems imovie can only import what quicktime can play.
Copied this from somewhere else
"Your best bet would be to rip the DVD using Handbrake to a .mp4url==http://=http:///url file (MPEG-4 encoding) at 100% quality. Then import into iMovie and go for your life. The initial Handbrake rip will be huge but the quality will be the same as the DVD - MPEG-4 at ~8mbps. I haven't tried a 100% quality rip to .mp4url==http://=http:///url with H.264 encoding but if you've got a decent machine you could give it a try. MPEG-4 works for me though."
DVD2DV is supposed to be good for these situations too.

Thanks for the help guys. Seems iMovie worked with the mp4 the second time around.

You have any more problems? I helped another guy with burning/ripping DVD's on a Mac a few weeks ago.

I'm doing good. Thanks for the offer though.
I'm borrowing this thread for a bit.
The company I work for has a video they want on their website, and I want to put it up on .movurl==http://=http:///url format. I have it ripped from the DVD, but I can't find a good and free .movurl==http://=http:///url converter. I'm on a PC. I searched Yahoo and Google, both coming up with programs which run for about $30 to $90 dollars, for a program I'll most likely only use once. I think...

If you convert it down to a mp4 with the resolution/bitrate you are hoping to have for the mov, I'm sure someone can convert it to mov for you.
How would they do this and how can I? Okay, I lied. I have both. I have the VOB and the Mp4, I need it in .movurl==http://=http:///url to stream it using Quicktime from a website.

Is the mp4 file already down to the size you want it? If so, you can upload it to you sendit (but not if the file is still pretty large) or something and I'll try to convert it if someone else doesn't do it first.
Is it possible for you to tell me how it can be done or a program that will do it. I can do it myself, I just need a bit of help on how. Don't mean to be much of a bother.

Well, the thing is there are no free tools to create mov files on PC as you saw. You'd need to get quicktime pro. I was just gonna do it on my Mac. Maybe you have access to someone's mac?
Ah, I see what you meant now. Hmmm...
How long would it take to convert? And mp4 isn't streamable is it?
