This company is coming to Purdue for a presenation (many companies do this to get their name out and its a good opportunity to get your resume out for potential jobs) and I heard some rumors from upperclassmen that this company was shady and was a get-rich-quick scam. I decide that I've got a good knowledge of these things from doing freesites so I decide to do some Googling.

http//www.raudel.net/?p=88 - blog stating someone's experience with the company
http//www.francisbusinessgroup.com - the company's website which requires the owner's request for registration to even see anything on the site
The "Francis Business Group" is basically a cover for their actual company name, Quixtar. ( their website - http//www.thisbiznow.com/index.html )
It looks exactly like that site everyone was talking about before with the energy drinks and selling them to friends or the Cutco knives deal. I was wondering if anyone had any experience or knowledge about them. They seem to be based out of the Chicago area. I just found it really usual for them to be heading to big college for a presentation.

Stay away from anything related to Quixtar. It's just a repackaged version of Amway. Amway changed it's name to Alticor, and I believe Quixtar is a subsidiary.

The governor's race blows this year. I don't like DeVos or Granholm -- the sad thing is, Granholm will win just because DeVos is a joke of a candidate.

In a nutshell, yeah.

Yeah they're basically the same company. They probably just made a new name since people knew the old one was bad.

Funny you mention Quitar, someone is trying to recruit me into it but when I ask that person [b0fa4a665b2]How do I make money?[/b0fa4a665b2], it seems I can never get a straight answer.
Do you know how it works? What's the catch and why is everyone saying stay away from it?

You know what really gets them? Tell them that if they will front your joining fees (around $200 I think), you will give them 25% of what you make with Quixtar.
All of a sudden, they aren't so sure that you'll make money.
As far as how it works, you just have to get a ton of people in your "down line", which is signed up under you. Think of it as getting referrals for a freebie site. You get a cut of what they make. You then get a smaller cut of the people they refer.
It's next to impossible to make any money on this -- I believe that out of 10,000 people with Amway, less than 10 made over $40k per year. The vast majority even lost money.

There's a Dateline investigation on Quixtar, I'll try to find the link.
