Tattooing over tattoos.

I'm going to Las Vegas the weekend of my birthday and decided to change my tattoo. However, I'm wondering what it's like to tattoo over a tattoo. It's not going to be color, so I'm tattooing what already exists.

Does anyone know what it's like? Does it feel the same as the first one? Is it dangerous? My tattoo is under my wrist.

Oh, and of course I'm going to ask for more advice and the professionals. Just wanted to get a start on asking around...

I have a brother who had a few tatoos, and he actually had that done once....

Said it didn't hurt and turned out fine. He did however have it done on his leg, so that might be a factor.

I had a tattoo over a tattoo. It was a solid black object over a color one, and its completely covered.

Are you adding on to the tattoo or what?

It is not dangerous, and feels about the same as the first one.

No, I'm not adding on. I'm "replacing" the current tattoo with something different so I wanted it to be tattooed over. It's also going to be black, so I was wondering.

Is it visible at all?

My friend (a girl) got a tat of a guys name (stupid) and they broke up and watever, and she got a flower ontop of it. You cant even see what was there before.

This girl had the word "Girlie" tattooed on the back of here neck and got it coved with a star. Barely visible and only on the light blue and yellow, so you should be fine.

I forgot to take a before picture, but I got my tattoo redone here in Hollywood. The guy and his assistant were both very professional and very nice. The tattoo under it can't be seen at all, but if I run my fingers over it, I can kinda feel it. I guess the moron that did the first one really stabbed me with the needle. Either way, getting it redone felt great.

After your new one scabs over and heals, you probably won't be able to feel the old one.
