Is there one?

I live in Illinois and am thinking of starting multiple small businesses. One being an online business while the other being a store selling personal works of art. Now I was wondering, is there an age requirement to get a license?

IS that a guess, because I have reason to believe that there really isnt an age.

Most likely it's the age of majority in your state... For example, in Alaska the age of majority is 16, but in Washington the age of majority is 18... You need to check your state laws or just call your city hall and ask them... They would have all of that information.

You gotta be able to read and sign the papers.

by sign you mean legally sign into a contract?

so you probably have to be the age of majority...

I had a similar question a few years back, but I found the only trouble area was with banks not wanting to give me a checking account.

In NY, I had a sole-proprietorship - DBA, at 15.

If you don't mind me asking, what was the business? I just wonder what the rules are for different states.

Technically it was consulting...I did liquidation for a couple of tiny computer companies that went out of business and for a computer recycler who before I approached him was grinding good equipment to pieces.
