He should have stayed in Europe, but then again he might bring football(soccer) back to the states which would be awesome.

$250 million for 5 years!!!
he wasn't performing well after the World Cup and was on the bench for most of the time at Real Madrid.
He now has 250 reasons to get the hell out of there and go to L.A.

When I read it I thought it was $250 thousand not millions. lol
I didnt think MLS soccer teams had that kind of money. shock I also heard Ronaldo might be coming to the RedBulls, but that was while ago.

I'll go check out a game I think this season just to see Becks in action. Perhaps we can get Zidane over to the states, or some of the other places coming close to the end.
I think $250 million also includes endorsement. There is no damn way a MLS team could afford $250 mill on a declining player for 5 years. Most of that money probably comes from sponsors.

He isn't worth all that money but if it helps people start to care about futbol than I'm happy. Hockey needs to go away and futbol can slide right in as America's #4 sport...

Wolfe said that!
Heh, but yeah that would kick ass. Hockey needs to get over it's lack of fans in this country and move along.
Time to let footy rain supreme. 8)

Beckham is a superstar but he is not in his prime anymore he was released from Real Madrid and he "resigned" from the British team as the captian after the world cup. So basically I feel like we are getting Europe's left overs...but I am a huge Futbol fan so I am thrilled to see him here.

Ronaldo and a couple of other star players have said that once they are "past their prime" they will come to the US and play because a) they will get paid the big $$ and b) a past his prime Ronaldo will be able to compete with MLS caliber guys.
The $250mil that Beckham is getting does include endorsement money and I'm guessing that's what makes up most of it. I think he is getting around $30mil a year now form endorsements, so $250mil is in the right ballpark.
The MLS is moving in the right direction with the push for soccer only stadiums, instead of using fields like RFK and Gillette Stadium.

Though hockey is one of my favorite sports and is deffinetly the most entertaining of the top four to see live. If we're going to replace it with anything it clearly has to be Lacrosse...

He is making alot of money by coming to the US, but why leave europe to become a part of little MLS, the league is crap.
I was watching GMA and they went around with a photo of him asking people on the street if they knew who he was, and no one said yes.
Kinda sad.
He's a little over-rated, but it would be nice if soccer blew up over here because of him.

Over-rated? In this country sure, but known around the rest of the world as a one time world class soccer player.
I think since most Americans are already biased towards soccer they'll just try and pretend they don't know who he is even after they do. And continue to put soccer down.
He came to get paid, but isn't money what this country moves around best? P

Did anyone see the interview this morning with Cold Pizza...they ask him would you have signed for half that amount? He stalls...looks puzzled...smirks...then laughs and says probably not, but like I said Its not about the money.
lol ...you know damn well its about the money. You just said you wouldnt have signed for half of what you got. lol

I just seen it a while ago, he would make the Galaxy reps look pretty stupid by answering that.
She really put him on the spot, cold wench...
