You get a 1 year Warranty with Apple for replacement of parts, etc. You can buy extended AppleCare. I believe it's $59.99 per year.

You buy the warranty from Apple, and if you got it from a free site, or any other vendor (new) it comes with a one year warranty.

SWEET. So If something happens, I can just call apple and they will answer my Q or give me new headphones if they break? How does that work. What if after 4 months it breaks. Can i send the broken back for a brnd new one???

you mean if the headphones break? Im not sure about that, but for the ipod you get a 1 year warranty, yes you can still get a RMA as long as you didnt purposly break it. (they may be able to tell)

Broken accessories are the easiest thing to do! You don't even have to send them back....

No. It's only Apple manufactured accessories (think dock, headphones, etc.). It's not a good idea to try to scam them, but do what you wish.

Yeah, every iPod has a warranty, you just give them your iPod's serial that's engraved into the back of it and they verify in the computer. Does this free warranty apply to falling damage and water damage?

Most likely not. It is a warrenty against manufacture defects, not against misuse or abuse.

I believe it may, or you can make up an excuse about what happened with it in the normal course of action. I've done that once, but for something far less expensive.

Is it also correct that you have to pay for the shipping costs for an RMA? And I also heard that you have to pay for any tech support by phone.

No. Not within the specified range of time. And also, you pay no shipping costs for an accessory replacement, I'm not sure about the iPod itself.
