I am a "Daughter of the American Revolution" - my ancestors initiated the revolution. But then, without my ancestors on the Mayflower, there would never have been a settlement to defend.
I am very confident in saying that MANY MANY of us have ancestry in the original settlements of the colonies. It's not that unique.
