As far as games go they've really never done much but entertain me. I have had a Wii since the day it was released (yes I stood out in the freezing winter cold for one) but never really thought of this until now. I enjoy Wii sports and realized hey I was getting a nice workout when doing so, so I decided to make it part of my daily routine to workout with the Sports everyday for about a half an hour. Low and behold I've lost 3 lbs this week alone think I may kick it up a notch and see where it takes me. Im waiting for the kick pad thats coming out soon should help in loosing some more weight and getting a better workout. Funny how my mother always told me "your ganna sit around here all day playing games and your just ganna get fat". Guess I showed her P.

Interesting, that's awesome you lost 3 lbs. You must have been doing tennis and really getting into it, it couldn't have been baseball or bowling.
I figure it's only a matter of time before a fitness game comes out for the Wii, I bet it would be extremely lucrative too

Usually its Boxing or Tennis Boxing gives me a great upper workout while the tennis gives me an upper and lower workout. Baseball gives me an upper but not as good as tennis. As far as the new stuff coming out heres a link to an article pretty sweet stuff.

Boxing is a great work out
hehehhehe

Yeah I think boxing gives the best workout. Baseball is ok too if you just do the batting practice or homerun derby. Tennis is mostly just wrist flicks so it doesn't do much for me.

Ummm.... Have you ever considered Dance Dance Revolution, or better yet, In the Groove? I mean if you're looking for exercise in a video game - I think a nice four panel dancing stage might do you a little better than a simple wii. You can become skilled at in no time, and as you advance you'll use more and more energy, until one day you're capable of passing 6 minute long songs with 2200 steps and streams of up to 15 steps/second! But, hey that's just my feedback - and I dunno, my USB read 3500+ calories after playing 25 or so 2 minute songs last Saturday.
Oh yeah, and you can't forget the crowds - you'll get more than enough attention... In fact if there's one game that could get a guy laid, then this would be it. ^^ http//youtube.com/watch?v=6tP3tXClLyI - here's an example of a more experienced player, but there's close to a thousand other people in the word that can pass this song as well.

Yea thats crazy, definately a good workout. I don't know how people get so good at that game, I tried it like twice and was terrible. As far as getting any guy laid though, I haven't seen too many girls go crazy over a good DDR player lol Oh well who knows.

If you stand up and actually do some forward and backward motions I find the game is actually much easier, and it does really keep you active. As does boxing, but I end up in pain after boxing because I have a bad shoulder.
Overall I think Wii can help sombody lose some weight. Which is great, but I wouldn't use it specifically to lose weight.
Although on Wario Ware Smooth Moves there is actually a mini game called Kalorie or something that like and it keeps track of calories that you burn ( although I don't really take the numbers they give seriously).

There's actually a guy who played Wii Sports for 30 minutes a day for one whole month, and lost like 12-14 lbs (and he wasn't THAT over-weight). He has a website up devoted to his experience... don't remember the link though. If you did a google search, I'm sure you'd find it!

just for the record I hate wii tennis, I always try to do a back hand and it thinks i'm swinging forward when i try to go for the backhand, and i just can't get it out of my mind to swing regular for a backhand shot (

Personally I'd rather go to the gym instead of using a video game system to work out. The results are probably better.
