I got the date of my next fight today. November 3 in Montreal. It's a Muay Thai fight. Fighting at a weight of 185lbs D
[quote9c700c7b5f]Not to be confused with either Western kickboxing or the current craze of "Tae Bo"-style cardio workouts, Muay Thai is the national sport of Thailand with a history that dates back at least several hundred years.
The earliest records of Muay Thai's origins were lost when the Burmese army sacked the Thai capital of Ayuddhaya; however, it is known that it was used as a training method for the Thai armies by the 1500's. Over the following centuries it gradually evolved into a full contact ring sport, with the art becoming formally codified in the 1930's and adopting the rules currently used today. Modern Muay Thai is a sport of rounds, like Boxing, but competitors use all manner of punches, kicks, elbows and knees to defeat their opponents. Clinching is allowed, as well as hitting during a clinch. Kicking is often directed to the legs.
Although Muay Thai is an excellent choice for competition and street self-defense, students are by no means obligated to compete. Most students practice Muay Thai simply for the excellent workout that it provides; a very challenging combination of aerobic and anaerobic activity with wide-ranging benefits in endurance, strength, and flexibility.[/quote9c700c7b5f]

This is going to be my first officially sanctioned match. I haven't lost yet in unofficial matches. I had 1 draw. I plan on being 1 - 0 D
I do Braziallian Jiu-Jitsu and Submission wrestling as well. If all goes well with this fight, I will tray and get an amature mma match in the spring or next fall.

Thanks. Ya Muay Thai is pretty hardcore. I have a huge knot in my left thigh from training tonight. Took a knee strike to the thigh in the clinch.

Do you know who you are fighting and his style? I want a KO and I expect nothing less!

I don't know who I am fighting yet. The way it works for amature fights is they put you against someone with the same experience and in your weight class. I probably won't know until a few days before. I am going to go for a KO. I am a power puncher. I have put a few guys down with body shots so we will see what happens. I have been training my cardio like an animal lately. I am pretty worn out so Nov 3 can't get here soon enough. My wife is fighting too. This may be the first husband and wife card in history! lol

I assume this is a ring opposed to the cage?
And when I picture you I picture Tim Sylvia just wandering around looking for a KO punch with some small leg kicks thrown in.

MyungChunHa you can start up now -- some fighters start fighting after only 1 or 2 years of training

In a ring. Muay Thai is never in a cage.

I'm 33.
I have been training for about 3 years.
You are at a great age to start.
