and anyone else that might know. Isn't it true that the security hired for shows are only hired if they have a different taste in music than that of the one they're working at? I mean, you can't have security watching the show when they're supposed to be working. I'd imagine there's some guys that like the music but rather get paid, first.
And while we're on the topic, what's the best concert that you've ever been to? Mine has to be when Cradle of Filth, Bleeding Through, Arch Enemy, and Himsa came to Pittsburgh (PA). It was an awesome show and dirt cheap price, too!
Now I'm not limiting to just metal, rock, and stuff. ANY concert you've been to.

You are hired for the whole season (the busiest concert times)... And the people who get hired dont know the schedule of the upcoming events (atleast in Indy you dont) and they have strict policies when it comes to working a show.
Best show I have seen was Maroon 5 in Champaign, IL at the Canopy Club... great show!

Yea, I work at my local concert venue and for the most part you choose which shows you want to work at except at the sold out shows where everybody must work.

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? You really must go to a concert some day; it's a lot of fun.
My favorite concerts ever were the Grateful Dead in '93, and the Pink Floyd Division Bell tour in '94. Both were in Miami.

What has been said before.... plus, most of the security at the shows that I've been to over the years is oursourced, with some that work directly for the venue. You work the shows, regardless if you like the music or not. Very rare exceptions that you can pick and choose what shows you want to work or not.
As for my favorite show, it's hard to pick just one. I've been to well over 200 concerts. But if I had to pick one, I'd have to say Ozzfest 2001 was the best for the bands, the venue, the atmosphere... all around.
Black Sabbath, Marilyn Manson, Papa Roach, Linkin Park, Distrubed, Black Label Society, Nonpoint and 16 other bands that were pretty damn cool.
The band I've seen the most live is Depeche Mode (yeah, I know.. big change from the above list). I've seen them 7 times and they've not disappointed yet.
Upcoming shows I'm going to Velvet Revolver, Motley Crue and Ozzfest 2005 (Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Killswitch Engage, Rob Zombie, Shadows Fall and more). My 13 yr old daughter wants to go to Ozzfest this year. Her first concert was 7 years ago.... B-52's and The Pretenders. Her last was with her mom... Duran Duran.

I echo that statement. Concerts are a blast. I had to wait until I was out of high school before I went to my first (Van Halen, 1982 - Diver Down tour at the L.A. Collesium)
Cool that you got to see both Pink Floyd and the Dead. Rumor has it that Roger Waters and Gilmour are in the midst of patching up their differences and will tour next year. I would kill to see that show.

I'm 19 and I've seen Oasis, the Rolling Stones, the Moody Blues, and Al Green. I also have tickets to see Oasis again when they roll around America this summer and would love to see Clapton and DEFINITELY Pink Floyd. Led Zeppelin wouldn't be too bad, either. D Not too many but I'm pleased with my choices.

Whew, I would love to go to that one too, but I'm not holding my breath. There have been rumors to that affect floating around for a long time. (I'm sure you've heard them many times before too)

Some of those shows mentioned I'd like to go to but unfortunately don't always have the transportation (.
Perchance has anyone ever been to Rolling Rock Town Fair in Latrobe, PA?
