I didn't know if this is posted on another forum, so sorry for this.
My question is this Anyone that's done referral sites before, because I haven't, does the person or persons you refer get the same gift that you're trying to get? Is it only certain companies that do this? If so, which ones? Any help would be appreciated.

They get the gift if they find referrals as well. so if you refer a friend to get a gift, they must find a seperate referral to get theirs and so on.

Well, not necessarily. If it's 2 refs, it's definitely a pyramid -)
As so often in mathematics, 1 is just a special case.
